'Tis the season to be jolly...

...fah la la la la...lalalala! I know some people hate Christmas time, I am not one of those people. I genuinely love it! The Christmas songs, the films, the tree, the lights, beautiful decorations, time with family and friends, excited children, yummy food, Fat Jolly Santa and giving presents...receiving them is not too bad either!

The only part I'm not keen on is shops telling us we need to start feeling christmassy ridiculously early. This year it started mid October! 1st December is quite adequate people-too much of a good thing and it'll test even the most festive amongst us!

We've made it through the Halloween sugar highs, our children have just about survived the swirling sparkler fun of bonfire night and now its time to throw ourselves into all the Christmas cheer we can manage. In the lead up to Christmas I'll be sharing recipes for delicious festive fayre, some homemade decorations to get your house decked out ready for Santa and I'll be sharing some family traditions that help make our Christmas special for us.

This weeks family tradition is watching Christmas films. There are so many to chose from, but here are some of our favourites:

The Snowman

The Muppet Christmas Carol

The Polar Express

Home Alone

The Christmas Chronicles

Home Alone 2

Santa Claus: The Movie

The Santa Clause

Arthur Christmas

The Snowman and the Snowdog

Nativity

Stick Man

For the older children or adults:

Gremlins

Die Hard

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

Scrooged

Love Actually

Trading Places

Then there's the classics:

It's a Wonderful Life

White Christmas

Miracle on 34th Street

Meet me in St Louis

A Christmas Carol

Holiday Inn

I hope you will find something here to enjoy. Our family will happily make their way through these films every December. They make all the adults feel nostalgic, the children love the humour and we all enjoy the heart warming stories. Most importantly, it's an opportunity to watch something full of joy as a family, which is what this time of year is all about.
